The Competitor

Danielle King – Hampshire born GB cyclist

Some women and girls just love to compete.  They’re driven by being their best, pursuing excellence at every turn.  During 2012 there will be no shortage of examples of great achievements by ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things.  If you want to achieve your own personal best, whether it be in fitness or sport, then why not try to follow in the footsteps of our profiled athletes or become a role model for the millions of girls and women of all ages, who take up sport every year.

Your local Sports Development Officer should be able to point you in the right direction if you’re looking for a new activity for yourself, your friends of your children.   You might already know what sport you want to pursue or have been doing it for some time, but now want to go to the next level.  In this instance you should contact one of our Governing Body Officers, who can point in the direction of county squads and other performance programmes.

Alternatively you might decide to become one of the counties excellence sports volunteers or coaches, supporting the next generation of athletes to reach for the stars and achieve their individual potential.  If this is the path you want to taken, then register on Coaching Hampshire & IOW and speak to one of the local clubs in the area about the best way to develop your skills and support our local athletes.
